Electrical Transmission — Who Decides?

Which new transmission lines might be built? Where would they go — connecting what generators to which markets?

Which part of government makes those decisions?

The answers will affect investment strategies and shape energy policy for years to come.

That’s why representatives of Big Power like PJM and FPL got together in a private meeting at the Atlanta airport on April 6 to discuss proposed federal legislation. Bills have been introduced that would lead to new federal transmission planning authorities.   

Were Maryland’s interests represented at the April 6 meeting?
